John Hemmen Art

painting by John HemmenThe Treehouse Cafe (Bainbridge Island, WA) usually has exhibits by local artists on its walls, and the art is usually pretty good.  I was in there the other day, and I found the art on the walls remarkable — partly because I just liked it, and partly because it was about fish.  Remarkable indeed because relatively little of our media is about the largest part of our biosphere: our water.  Even on a small island like Bainbridge, ocean themes are not all that common.

John Hemmen was the artist who produced this great work.  Take a look at the gallery of his work on his web site.  One thing I especially like about his work is exemplified in the accompanying image: showing not just fish but relationships.
